Get to know Broke in Philly: Collaborative Reporting on Economic Justice


Following on the success of The Reentry Project last year, Philadelphia now has its own solutions journalism organization, called: Resolve Philadelphia.

And Resolve just launched Broke in Philly, a collaborative of 20 local organizations working together to report on economic justice: brokeinphilly.org

Free: One Day Law School for Journalists

The challenge of reporting on the legal system without a law degree can be daunting. To help support journalists who cover the courts, Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts, Temple University Beasley School of Law, and Klein College of Media and Communication have developed a one-day intensive program on the court system geared toward journalists and others in the media who have little experience covering the courts or who want to be sure they are on top of all the current issues.

Photojournalist Nick Ut will share his work at the Pen and Pencil on Thursday, February 22nd at 8 p.m. He recently retired after 51 years with the Associated Press. Born in Vietnam, Nick Ut joined the Associated Press at age 16 following the death of his older brother, an AP photographer.
