from imdb.com The machine army continues to drill towards Zion. Within hours, they will overrun the population of the Zionites and lay extinction to human kind. Meanwhile, Neo is held captive by the Merovingian at a train station. Trinity & Morpheus set out on a journey to release him from a mysterious train operator. Also, Smith resumes his quest to kill "Mr. Anderson" as he reveals his identity into the real world and resumes to replicate his program inside the system of The Matrix, causing it to decay. All hope is placed in the freed Neo, who must travel to the city of the machines in the Logos ship with Trinity and bargain to save each kingdom from destruction by finishing Smith once and for all. Earth is being run by machines while most humans are in stasis, serving as batteries/energy sources for the machines. The human's brains are linked into the Matrix, keeping the real world hidden. However, some humans live in a city, underground, Zion.


Technology

  • Name of portrayed presence-evoking technology: sentinels
  • Description of the technology: Sentinels are search and destroy machines that seek out humans or ships, in order to destroy them. They fly through the air, can seemingly travel anywhere, and resemble giant mettalic squids. The people spend the entire movie in fear of the sentinels, running from them, or trying to shoot or outsmart them. They can be stopped by an electromagentic pulse, a wave of energy which immobolizes all machinery currently on.
  • Nature of task or activity: Running or hiding in fear. They are merciless killers. Alternately, people shoot at and try to destroy the sentinels as well.
  • Performance of the Technology: works well. they are out to destroy Zion, and they come very close. They only stop because their leader orders them.
  • Description of creator(s): The architect created the matrix, a hite, older man in his 60s. However, machines may have created the sentinels as a means of trying to control the remaining rebellious humans.

Long-term consequences:

Well, Neo saves Zion by making a deal with the machines. The sentinels circle for a while, eventually leaving Zion. Its a happy ending for the majority of characters, but the 2 main characters, Neo and Trinity are killed. Humanity lives to fight the machines another day, far in the future.
